Online Dating by Country: Where in the World Are People Looking for Love in 2026?

We analysed 10 weeks of visitor data from 100+ countries. The results reveal surprising patterns in who researches dating apps — and which countries produce the most engaged users.
Our top pick
We analysed visits to Best10DatingGuide from 1 March to 11 May 2026. In that window, people from more than 100 countries searched for dating app reviews.
Some findings were expected. Others weren't.
Key Findings
- The UK accounts for 42% of dating app research traffic worldwide
- Australian users spend the longest per session of any major market — 23 seconds on average
- Nigerian visitors average 22.6 seconds — comparable to the US
- UK users are most likely to click through to a dating app (42.2% rate)
- Americans spend 30% longer researching than British users
- West and Southern Africa combined generate nearly 400 genuinely engaged visits in 10 weeks
Who's Actually Looking for Love Online?
The top three markets — UK (18,500 users), US (13,200), and Canada (2,670) — account for nearly 80% of real traffic.
New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa round out the core English-speaking audience.
Beyond that, the reach surprises. Visitors arrived from Ghana, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Japan, and dozens more.
Active users by country — 1 Mar to 11 May 2026 (bot traffic excluded)
Which Country Produces the Most Engaged Users?
Volume isn't the whole story.
When you look at how long visitors actually spend reading — the engagement time per session — a different ranking emerges.
Average engagement time per session (seconds)
Australians read more carefully before clicking. Americans are more thorough than Brits. New Zealanders sit in between.
What This Means
The smaller the English-speaking market, the more deliberate the research behaviour. When your dating pool is geographically limited, choosing the right app matters more.
Who's Most Likely to Actually Sign Up?
Engagement time tells you who reads. Key event rate tells you who acts.
Click-through rate to dating apps by country
Brits are the most decisive. They read less than Americans but click through more.
Americans research more thoroughly but take slightly longer to commit.
The African Audience Nobody's Talking About
Ghana (128 users), Nigeria (113), and South Africa (125) together sent nearly 370 engaged visitors in ten weeks.
That's not a huge number. But the quality metrics are striking.
Nigerian visitors averaged 22.6 seconds on site — higher than Canada, and comparable to the US. South African visitors converted at 34.4%, almost identical to the American rate.
These are not casual browsers.
What This Means
West and Southern African users are researching dating apps with real intent. The global dating industry has historically ignored these markets. The behaviour data suggests that's a mistake.
Europe's Quiet Overachiever
Germany and France are the expected European entries — 75 and 43 users respectively.
The Netherlands outperforms both: 354 users and a 30.8% key event rate. That's more traffic than Australia sent, from a non-English-speaking country, engaging seriously with English-language review content.
What This Tells Us About Online Dating in 2026
The appetite for dating apps is global. The content discussing them isn't — yet.
Users in Nigeria, Ghana, and the Netherlands are finding and engaging with English-language dating app reviews. They're spending real time reading them. And they're clicking through at meaningful rates.
The markets that receive the most app development attention (UK, US) are not always the most engaged. Australia, Canada, and South Africa consistently punch above their weight on quality metrics.
Online dating is no longer a Western phenomenon. The research behaviour confirms it.

Methodology: Data covers 1 March – 11 May 2026. Two markets (Singapore and China) showed near-zero engagement rates and session times under one second — consistent with automated traffic — and have been excluded from qualitative analysis. Geographic data is available for all users; demographic signals require Google Signals and are available for approximately 18% of the audience.
