we'll be honest here; we were put off by the name! That seems fickle, but we feel like it's telling us we need help to 'get dating' rather than empowering me to dedicate time and energy to my own love life and happiness.

That said, Get Parents Dating is a great date site, so we hope there aren't lots of potential users who tend to take a dislike to an unintentionally patronising name! Once we got passed the site name, we found this to be a great platform, with all the functionality you need to find a single parent date.

The questions for your profile are optional, as is a profile photo, so if you're curious and just want to have a look around the site, nothing is stopping you from spending as much time browsing as you like.

The appeal for us is that the site is streamlined and simple to use; you can run fast searches, filter by the qualities that matter most to you in a date, and either send Likes or messages - depending on if whether, like us, you get a little tongue-tied when you have to think of the perfect one-liner on the spot! In terms of value for money, Get Parents Dating is a smooth, functional and fun date site.

Ease Of Use

From first registration, Get Parents Dating is well laid out, so you won't waste any time flicking through the site map trying to find the right section, or getting confused figuring out your inbox! Messages look just like an email screen, so the layout is familiar, and the main home page works like a social media feed so you can scroll through one post a time (unless something, in particular, catches your eye!).

All of the main sections are set out right at the top of the page, and you can flick between them quickly. Home is on the top left, where you'd expect it to be, and the fresh background and lack of clutter mean you can browse quickly without distractions or annoying ads. Talking of ads, there are some unless you upgrade, but they're not intrusive or too regular and didn't bother us at all. 

When it comes to managing your account, this works equally smoothly. There is a three-button link at the top right, similar to the layout you're used to on internet browsers, and clicking here allows you to:

Conclusion

Get Parents Dating is everything you need to meet single men and women near you - who also happen to have kids! The layout works perfectly, and there is just the right balance between games and matching systems, without being gimmicky and a little too much effort. This is a site created for simplicity and quick results, which in itself acknowledges the no-nonsense approach most Mums and Dads have to accomplishing everything on their task lists - be it doing the weekly shop, or finding your soul mate! 

You do need to subscribe to a paid membership to be able to send messages, but the site is flexible and isn't pushy in trying to force you to pay anything. The functionality works well, and we didn't find a single broken link, naff function, or inaccessible page. When it comes to the user base, we couldn't find any stats about exactly how many guys and girls are on the site, but our first pass brought up  24 matches within 20 miles of our location, which is better than we'd expect.

The messages function works equally well; you can choose whether to get email alerts to see when someone has contacted you, or turn these off if you're busy elsewhere. Site admin also messaged us when we signed up, which feels like a nice personal touch (even if it's probably an automated message!).

we'd like to see a bit more profile detail to include more personality-based sections, but then we guess you can always go into a bit more context if you find someone with whom you have a compatible match. The membership seems quite mixed, with a variety of ages, interests and style of profile photo, so we'd say it's worth having a browse first to make sure there are members near you, and singles that you'd like to chat with and potentially date.

As an added extra, the articles page is worth a look. This contains all manner of blogs, information and guidance - which we think is worth its weight in gold when you consider a lot of single parents are just jumping back into the dating pool, or might never have used an online dating site before! The information is helpful, well written, and easy to find.

If you're after a genuine relationship with authentic people, Get Parents Dating ticks all the boxes. All of the functions of more significant dating sites with a fraction of the ads, and none of the spam - perfect!
