MeetSingleParentMe has been around since 2008, and is dedicated to single parents - of either gender - and isn't fussy about whether you're looking for authentic commitment, or just to make new friends. Let's try it out and see what MeetSingleParentMe has to offer!
MeetSingleParentMe feels like it's been built for parents. I mean that in a good way, honest! I like the clean interface, the fact that there aren't any bizarrely sexual images thrown in your face, and that everything on the site feels like it's relatable to me! That's what I want from single parent dating - realistic, approachable guys and girls who I think might genuinely be interested in having a chat, or even nipping down to the local wine bar for a bit of a flirt when I've got a night off. MeetSingleParentMe is that sort of site; I met a tonne of members straight after having signed up (nice little confidence boost!) - and didn't find anybody who I thought seemed a bit spammy. That in mind, it seems like all the members here are authentic people and are up for having a chat even if you don't hit it off. The Meet Me game is my favourite part - where else can you get a quick fire overview of all the tastiest single Dads on a site!
“User-friendly dating site for single parents - lots of members, plenty of features but overall a clear cut and simple dating site for Mums and Dads.”
First impressions: pretty positive. I feel relaxed and comfortable with images of 'ordinary people' on the site, which is much more inviting than some of the softcore glamour model images I see on a lot of dating sites. Even the colour schemes are easy on the eye, and you can tell this is a site that's been designed with ease of use in mind.
Registration is free, and you'll need to enter a few basic details and answer some general questions to get cracking:
That's pretty much it - you can choose what 'type' of dating your'e interested in - i.e. casual dating, online flirting, dates, long-term relationship etc. Then you have a few optional questions about whether you've got kids that you can opt not to answer if you're not comfortable sharing that information just yet.
Once you've finished the registration process, there are no lengthy personality questionnaires or mandatory profile fields you have to fill in. You can get started browsing, seeing who has liked you, playing the Meet Me matching game and flirting your socks off straight away!
All of your notifications and alerts are displayed along the top toolbar so that you can browse quickly. There aren't any of those peculiar icons that are unique to dating sites or anything else that makes it feel a little confusing to work your way around - the crisp white background makes it visually pleasant to browse - and I like the X or heart for yes or no. Perhaps it feels a little gentler to click the X rather than have to explicitly say no to someone who probably is interested in dating you...
All things considered, this is a site that a novice online dater could use without a seconds thought. And that's the idea, right! Single parents have got little ones to look after, probably have been through the dating game before, and want a service that works quickly, accurately, and doesn't create so much clamour around the bells and whistles that you never quite end up sitting down to dinner with someone!
MeetSingleParentMe does exactly what it says on the tin - it connects single parents from around the UK, with a range of search options to help you find just the right person for your relationship preferences. The site is easy to use, simple to navigate, and while it has plenty of features and games is focused on the dating rather than the gimmicks.
I found the site to be welcoming, the members to be friendly, and a surprising number of single Dads within about 30 miles of my town (not the biggest of places down in Sussex!). In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by the standard here - who knew!
The support ticket system works well, so if you get stuck, there's someone on hand to get your account back on track, and I always like a helpful blog section - called Articles on MeetSingleParentMe. It's so easy to feel like you're the only new member who's not quite sure how to start a conversation, so those FAQs go a long way to making you feel like you know the right way to break the ice!
In terms of costs, you'll have to upgrade if you want to chat over and above a freebie message. However, the registration process is free, and you have immediate access to pretty much all of the site, so there's no pushy sales tactic here, and you can browse to your heart's content before you decide whether it's worth paying for a subscription.
At the cost of £8.99 per month for a year's subscription, I'd say that's decent value for money, and worth it even if you're not looking for a date just to have a chat with Soulman86 - how refreshing to meet single parents who're happy to while away the time with a bit of Friday night flirting!
